Suggested Feeding Diet
Suggested Feeding Diet for
Bullmastiffs
Adjust these measurements for feeding Neapolitans.
Breakfast
8.00 - 9.00 AM
4 mugs of
"Bakers Complete" "James well beloved" "Tesco's Premium Complete" or
similar good brand of complete biscuit, in feeding bowl. Pour a small
amount of Hot water over this to allow the biscuit to soften a little.
Add 1 raw egg to the meal (twice per week) and mix in well.
1 or 2 slices of toast with butter or margarine can be given seperately.
Cold tea is also good for their coat.
Always use a raised feeding table for water and food, available from most
pet stores as this helps to prevent gastric torsion (Bloat) and to prevent
splayed feet.
See picture of recommended raised feeding table with bowls below.
Allow half an hour to one hour after any meal before you exercise your dog
Throughout the day treats can be given, such as;
Bonio's, chicken biscrocks, Lamb chop biscuits etc.
Evening meal
5.00 - 6.00 pm
The suggested main protein meat should be; Chicken, Turkey or Lamb.
2 fresh Chicken or Turkey thighs parboiled for approx 40 minutes on medium
heat.
Make sure there are no bones given in the meal, for fear of these lodging
in the dogs throat.
Minced Lamb meat can be used, cook well or give raw, approx 400 -600
grammes.
Fish, such as sardines, salmon, or cod can also be given as alternative to
meat once or twice per week. Again watch for bones in any fresh fish,
debone thoroughly before giving this to your dog.
Vegetables can be feshly parboiled, pressure steamed or microwaved, approx
2 mugfuls.
Parboiled Pasta is used as an alternative to vegetables, give approx 2
mugfuls, but your dog needs vegetables more than pasta. You can give
portions of each with the main meal.
Place 5 mugfuls of complete biscuit in bowl. Add the meat, and add
vegetables or pasta.
Juice from the chicken stock or lamb stock can be poured over in small
amount.
Add 500mg of Vitamin C powder
""" 2 x 100iu of Vitamin E (Split capsule or use in tablet form)
""" 2 x Cod liver oil capsule split over food
""" 2 x garlic capsules split, or use a full fresh clover crushed
""" half a capful of cider vinegar (available from all good health food
shops)
This is good for ligaments and joints now, and in later life as your dog
gets older, helping to promote healthy joints and with mobility.
1 tablespoon of fresh yoghurt, either natural or banana flavour.
Mix in all of the above well and serve.
Fresh water needs to be always available to the dog on his/her raised
feeding table.
They all like such treats as cheese, ham, bacon, sausage, Pizza, Mcdonalds
burgers etc, and anything we humans like to eat, so give only in small
portions as a treat.
Recommended feeding table for all Mastiffs.
